Data Analyst Evaluating Scholarship Online Applications the Health Effects of Social Interventions Programme


We are looking for a Data Analyst to provide analytical data management to the Evaluating the Health Effects of Social Interventions Programme (www.sphsu.mrc.ac.uk/research-programmes/ev) in this unit. The aim of the MRC Social and Public Health Sciences Unit is to promote human health via the study of social and environmental influences on health (www.sphsu.mrc.ac.uk).

You will undertake statistical analyses of complex data sets based on studies of different designs (e.g. longitudinal, cross sectional) and settings (e.g. international, schools. neighbourhoods) and manage complex data sets. You will be working collaboratively with the team leader on a variety of projects using these data sets and writing up research for reports aimed at audience of varying levels of expertise and for academic journals. You will also have the opportunity to present your results at scientific and non-technical meetings to colleagues and peers and support other aspects of research in the team, such as those related to data analysis.

You must have an honours degree in Statistics or related discipline with a high statistical content to apply for this post. A PhD in Medical Statistics, or a quantitative discipline would be desirable. Experience working with epidemiological or social science datasets; experience with longitudinal data and an understanding of the public health significance of health inequalities is also essential. You must also have experience in the use of multivariate analyses including logistic regression and repeated measures and knowledge of major statistical packages - SAS and/or Stata or SPSS.
